E30 v8 issues, please help if possible :)

    Hi guys,

Ive asked this on a few forums but i thought id give you guys a go to as some of you are VERY experienced with e30s in particular

Cars going through cert at the moment (finally in known) (gotta love dealer plates )
But one of the small problems Ive ran into is the certifier has found the speedo to be off by 9kms (5mph) @100kph (60mph)
What could cause this? I'm running the standard LSD 3.73 diff with sensor, 225/45/16s so they are within factory suggested tire diamiters. I cant figure it out?

But in saying that the more i think about it the more i realize i don't think that needs to be certed as its all factory? nothing has been changed.

Any ideas? can you adjust the calibration?

I don't have to for cert but id like to get the tach sorted at the same time. Obvioulsly the input for the tach on my car is for a 6cylinder engine and now its a v8 so it does not read right. Any idears how to calabrate the to? ill probably have to send it into parrotts in chch

    Cheers

    Riley

It really has nothing to do with the V8. The speedo sensor is located in your diff and as long as you have stock outer diameter tires, you're cool. All E30s are off by about that much from the factory. If it really bothers you, I'd go with something like Ray recommended.

Oh i no the speedo is nothing to do with the V8 its the Tach thats the problem with the V8. The output from the engine does not read correctly on the 6cly readout :(

Have u tryin looking in to the coding plug from a 318? see if u can modify it to read as a v8. its mucher easier to work with than a 6cylin coding plug.
