For one stop shopping on the bushings try AKG Motorsport as they make nice stuff for the right price and are easy to deal with .

For the flywheel I would suggest going with a stock 19lb M20b25 flywheel or even the 13lb E21 323i flywheel as they can be had for dirt cheap and might be better than a super light aluminum flywheel on an M42 .

For the coil-overs maybe check out Vorschlags AST 4100's as they are top notch parts and great guys to deal with .

Going to check it out now. Does the E21 Flywheel bolt right up?

You'll have to swap the starter rings to get either M20 FW to work with your starter ...or you can swap the starter pinion for the M20 starter pinion , either way is cake .

Maybe you should check out M42club.com for more insight on M42 specific mods .

Koperformance.com has stock m42 motor mounts cheaper then anywhere I have seen. They are like 160 for stock

          Trans mounts were 12/pc

            The OP definitely doesn't .

Atually Vorshlag is making some nice poly/alu ones also .

I am amazed with the AST suspension. I just need to find out the adjustment travel. So i'll give'm a ring.

I'll price the flywheel out at work tomorrow and maybe i'll just throw an E21 starter on the M42 if it fits.

              Thanks much for the info.

              Anyone else?

The solenoid wiring is different , you'd be better off taking a torch to the FW starter ring and just knocking it of with a hammer and then swap them over .

Trial and error it shall be.

i have the VAC solid alum motor mounts in my 91 325i. if you have a big cam it is mucho shakeo! i am used to putting solid/poly mounts in everything i own so it is no big deal to me.
for the trans i have E28 (i think ) mounts that i bought from e30devo. they are bigger and stronger than stock, but not as stiff as poly. not bad and they are cheap.
the rear diff has a poly bushing in it, but it came with the car, so i don't know who it is from.

Here is your flywheel info: http://bmwzenperformance.com/m42-fly...onversion.html do it right there is a pic of the reworked flywheel. if you decide to swap ring gears instead of starter pinions be really careful if it isn't something you have done before get help from an old dude pro.

I put a 240mm clutch in an M42 (pics of the molly flywheel on the R&D page)...Hooks up but way too much work, I'll write it up soon.

oh... and solid motor mounts are a mistake on the M42 these little fuckers break shit.

You can PM me if you wish, I was playing with the M42 before it was the M42, lots of big HP to be had .

Interesting. I could make your head explode with questions. I would like you to elaborate about the "lots of power to be had". But that is vague and I'm sure would require alot of typing on your part. Carpel-Tunnel FTL. Would you mind if I gave you a call and discussed some ideas and i picked your brain?

                          Thanks, Joe

Oh and please elaborate on the motor mounts. Are you saying I should stay stock? And if so, why?
