    Cluster dead

    Ok,

So I got the 300$ 318 and the cluster is dead. The fuel gauge works and I think the temp gauge but not the tach and speedo. The speedo worked a little bit for a couple seconds while I was driving it, but that was it. Its a 91 and I pulled the SI board and the batteries look good, should I change them anyways?

Measure them with a multi meter. I believe they are 1.2 volts.

You might check the sped sender, but since more then just the speedo is out, the probably isn't you problem.

Looks like an SI board or the back board of the cluster. Check the speedo gears as they should be shot on top of all. Get a junkyard speedo and swap parts around the clusters.

does it not work at all? My speedo gage stopped working and I reflowed the circut board and now it works just fine.

heat up the solder and while it is liquid push the wire prong to the side to make sure it is making contact to the element on the board. That is what I did. Works fine now.
