To revive or not to revive....

    that is the question!

Back in September 2005 I purchased a 2001 530i which became my daily driver in place of my 85 325e. I let the E30 sit while I was deployed to Afghanistan and began aquiring parts for a Stroker. I am now scrapping the Stroker project and I am debating on whether to revive the E30 or just part it out. If I were to revive the E30 I'd have to tend to the rust issues. The worst part of the rust is on the driver's side wheel well where the undercoating cracked and allowed the New York winter to beat my car's ass. I just dont know if I should strip the car down and pay thousands to start from scratch or just scrap the whole thing and stick with the E39.

I need some motivation or words of wisdom.....TIA!

you came to the wrong place asking the wrong question...

Everyone here, or for the most part has, or is in the process of "reviving" their E30...unless someone shelled out big $ and bought one allready restored...

Sure, the E39 is a kickass car, but doubtfull you'll ever have the same character and uniqueness an E30 will offer you...

revive the badboy...get the body done, suspension...than giv'er with the engine.

good luck with whatever you chose to do!

I would revive the car, scrap the stroker project and look at motor swap instead. A swap will be easier and probably yeild more power and more potential.

Find a cheap e30 with a bad motor and a solid body. Then you can decide what motor yo want to put into it. good luck

I have to say that I'm torn. I did a motor rebuild and stroker, and I really do love my M20. But, the amount of money I paid I could have paid for part of an S50 swap.

It really depends on what you want to do. I could have done an M50 or my stroker - and I'd take the stroker over an M50 anyday. Or, turbo M20 or S50. I'm already half way to turbo m20 though.

Depends on what you want really. A swap isn't exactly easier, since you have to mess with all the wiring and stuff.

            Revive it! :)
