    Exhaust Questions

    Hey Guys

I don't have my list with me, however in the next few weeks I am basically replacing every suspension/bushing component on my car, including tranny, steering rack, rear end, etc.

Anyway, my ETA has the stock exhaust system on it right now, and in the next year I will be dropping in my 2.8 M20 which will then get a snail at some point in the next year after that.

My Dad said that he would probably toss me a few bucks for exhaust, as he is already blown away that I am dropping a grand into my car in the next month, so I guess the question is, what do go with?

I have the M20B25 Manifolds, which I will use on the ETA Engine, that is about it, I have the rear part of the exhaust (cat to muffler, minus the cat) however it is somewhat old and worn out.

So what should I go with? I don't want to break the bank, but he is expecting around a grand, so I need the complete exhaust system front to back. Dual Pipes all the way back obviously. I would like straight pipes out the back so that my Mtech1 kit will work correctly, but other then that I have no real idea what to go with.

So I leave it to you guys :)

You know, I had always been told that the 'i' manifolds flowed better than the eta manifolds. However, I checked the parts catalog and they are the same part number. I wonder if they just said screw it and stopped making the eta manifolds since they fit the same.

Check my recent post, I just did an 'i' exhaust conversion...

My advice, don't replace the upper straps and rubber hangers for the muffler if you don't have to. That was by far the most frustrating part. Those rubber hangers are about impossible to get on there.

I have the front section of the i downpipes if you are interested James. You can have custom pipes fabricated back of that, or.. if you wait I will have my entire manifold to cat section available.

I just installed a racing dynamics center section (resonator only), and have a remus muffler. Its all connected to the engine via MSDS headers. Since the muffler was on the car when I bought it, there was no expense but I hear they're expensive. The headers were $269 (I may be doing a group buy on these soon), and the RD center section was $75 on ebay. Its a twin pipe exhaust which might not work well on the eta but would be nice on the 2.8l (I have a 2.7i but think I may have lost a little torque with the catless center section - and its also 2" rather than 1.75"). Anyway, if you can find a decent muffler, it might be worthwhile to shop around on ebay for the RD center section. I recall many of these being sold when I bought mine. It sounds awesome with the headers and remus exhaust.

I would reccomend this James... Have a shop do the rest with the muffler of your choice. {I would go with Magnaflow]
