If you're just replacing the wiper motor, it's not difficult. Take off the firewall shield, remove heater motor stuff, then unbolt the wiper motor from the linkage and the inner panel. Unplug wires, and remove motor. You'll need to properly re-clock the linkage on the motor when you put it back in, but that's not so bad. Reassembly is reverse.

Now, if you're talking about taking out the wiper linkage, that can be "fun". That's a tight fit and you need to learn the secret bmw handshake to get it out and back in. ;)

Behind the firewall cover, drivers side, remove harness bracket and large MIL connector on the cover, pull off hood seal, the cover is held on with three 7mm (or 8...I'm getting old) head screws.

It's not all that easy of a job...Take your time...don't get frustrated and break shit.
