I have been told it will. I have no idea what you are talking about remote resevior, it sits on the master cylinder which you can use an E30 one or one from the 3.5l engine for a nupgrade. The reason you use the smaller booster is clearance to the back of the engine.
I got a booster from a 320i also and the MC from a 535. Does anyone know the length of the shaft on the E30 booster so I can trim mine down and rethread it before the swap begins?
I am using the M3 tranny, It just means I need the E30 M3 driveshaft. You can stick with the E30 shaft if you use the regular M50 tranny.
Thanks for the responses guys.
I'm going to be using the getrag 260.
Where is the cheapest you guys have seen 320i boosters? The euro depot sells rebuilt ones for $220.
By the way, I just drove Greg's (mtechnic3) e30m50 and the thing is beautiful. So much more low-end torque than an m20b25, and just all-around much smoother.
I found a used one that works off a friends old car. I will run that until I can afford a 02 one reubilt with the longer shaft.
I do have another swap question. i have yet to work on an S50, where is the oil sump pickup for the S50? Do I need to jack the pickup from the M50 from the E34?
The oil pickup and pan are from the 525i (e34) be certian it has the m50 engine, the early e34s have the m20 I think and I believe that pan will not work.
Autozone.com has them for 112.97 if you can find a core
Be sure to shop around, Euro depot told me 180 a while back. Are you planning to buy the engine from them?
Oh, i have an engine. I also have the M50 E34 Oilpan and I can go back and get the pickup off the E34 engine. Do I need a new pump too or just the pickup?
I would assume its the right one. They said the core came out of a 5 series and the date code is Mar 92. It was a DOHC motor. I tried to cross refrence the part number but hte only one I could find is the older short one.
As soon as I locate someone with a parts tank I will srtip it off all the old oil and grit because there are shields covering the level sensor and below the crank. The core engine was missing the dipstick and tube so I still have to track that down but those will be cheap enough through the dealer if I have to.
that's the right oil pan, but you're missing the oil level sensor on the bottom of it. You only need the oil pickup tube, but it's easier if you just get the pump/pickup combo from an e36. Remember to use some loctite (I used red) on the oil pump gear bolt, as it has a tendency to back out under extreme use.
I'd recommend the getrag 260 tranny, you can also keep your old diff and driveshaft :)
My brake booster cost me $20. Go to a damn real junkyard and pull one off of the endless supply of e21s
edit: my ix booster cost the same ..20
Does the e36 m50 already have this sensor? I have the pan on delviery and already have my engine, I do not know where the oil level sensor is though on the e36 one
