Engine cutting out/hesitating ~1800rpm after regular maintenance...

    SO...

    Performed valve adjustment
    replaced valve gasket
replaced small section of cracked fuel line
    ...

and for some reason, decided to clean the engine (pressure wash)

    NOW THE ISSUE...

engine starts and runs idles just fine.

rev gradually to about 1800-2000K, engine will cut out/hesitate and bounce down to about 1500K, and shoot back up to about 2200K...than will rev normally to 4K without hesitation...

Fuel pump is humming fine, throttle cable is nice and taught...all wires/cable connectors seem okay...

    now wtf did I do?

    Cam angle sensor?
    Fuel Delivery?
Possible to have messed it up during the valve adjustment?

I figure, that if it had to do with the engine wash, it would idle like sh*t, or not start...the car starts up and idles wonderfly.

    any ideas?

    btw- car is a 1985 325 ETA.

My first suspicion is that the pressure washer has forced water into places it should never be, which is why I never use one on an engine. I'd start by opening up every connector (and its boot) and check for wet contacts.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      checked and rechecked again...

about to check maf/icv now...all the more reason a M50 swap is sounding alot better.

      ALSO-

how do I know if I have motronic 1.1 or 1.3? I want to be able to try and 'scan' the CEL flashes....

COULD it be due to brittle wires that may of cracked when the valve cover was pushed aside when the valve adjustment was done?

you may have got the coil or distributor/rotor wet causing misfire. When the car is idling, does it run rough and misfire?

I could see a coil doing that. Clean out your ICV with carb cleaner or brake fluid or whatever.

after sleuthering..apparently is my cam/crank sensor...located around bellhousing of tranny is fuckered. (according to mechanic now...) is causing misfires after about 1500rpm...

solution is to replace crank angle sensor...better f'ken be the case!
