    Stuck at School!!

    Okay.
I have a 6-10 class on tuesdays. I put about $20 worth of gas in my car so I was above a half talk and I parked as usual and went to class. Came out and went to start my car but it didn't come on. It cranks but won't start. Any ideas are welcome because it looks like I'm gonna have to spend the night at school. Oh and I don't have a toolkit or my damn bentley so yeah..I'm fucked. I also tried to jump start it, sounded like it came on then died. Maybe fuel pump or spark plugs...ahh.

It's strong when it cranks, just dunno why it won't start. Oh a week or two ago I turned the key and it didn't come on at all so I disconnected the battery then reconnected and it came on. This happened like 2 or 3 times. This time nothing.

How? No bentleys plus a lack of car knowlege equals me being clueless.

I assume you have a coil....I have an 85 318 not too familiar with the 325's.....but if you do have a coil you can take the spark plug wire off of piston #1 and place it on top of one of the valve cover bolts and when you crank it there should be a spark if there isn't it's your coil....this would of course take two people thou.....

You say you had problems a week ago also, maybe try seeing what you can find using the fault codes. To do this,
turn the ignition to the on position
press down, then release the gas peddle 5 times in a row - after you do this the check engine light will give a single flash then start blinking in groups, ie. blink, blink blink, blink blink blink.. You will be able to separate the groups by a pause.

write down the sequence of blinks, then google something like "e30 code" and see what that sequence indicates.

....it may give you an idea of whats going on.

Aite I'm crashing at a friends house, tomorrow I check the codes, check for spark, check to see if the fuel making it to the engine and pray really hard that it works tomorrow. Any other ideas will be welcomed so please let me know if I missed anything on the list.

If your fuel pump is going, it could cause a no start condition. Remove the rear seat bottom and whack AROUND the fuel pump with a rubber mallet. This may jiggle the connections in the pump enough to make contact if it is the problem. This does not constitute as fixing the problem. Fuel pump swap is easy. If that is the case, I also recommend replacing your filter and hoses/clamps. Also easy. Good luck!

it's either no fuel or no spark. As mentioned before, check to see that you are getting spark. If you are, try hittin your fuel filter (its right under the back of your driver side door) with a hammer a few times. It may be clogged, in which case you should get a new one :D That happened to me last week...

If that doesn't work next step would be to test both fuel filters (check ur bentley)

Will add the fuel pump whack to the list, so if it's no spark what do I do. Keep in mind all my tools and the damn bentley are at home. Stupid I know, I'm gonna go pick them up sometime.

my fuel pump quit last week at a stoplight. i popped the rear seat cushion and whacked the fuel pump panel and it would almost start (a good test like wagonizzle said). just so happened i had a spare fuel pump and enough tools to switch it out after getting to the side of the road. started right up!

Hmm, well I already checked the fuel pump, and spark..so they were all good. However my car still won't start. I'm at wits end and will probably get my car towed to a shop tomorrow, if anyone has any last ditch efforts I would appreciate them greatly.
