weird noise from back of car

at around 4000-6000rpms i hear this weird "ksssszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" noise from the back of the car/gas tank area sounds like vibrations but im not sure, i just started hearing it since i removed my back seats for cleaning. ive had the seats out for a week and i just noticed it today, it doesn't matter how fast i go it only changes with rpms not speed, i'm thinking its the fuel pump, but my fuel pump is only 2-3 yrs old

Is it there when the car isn't moving? If so, it is probably the fuel pump.

no i just went for a little drive and its definitely coming from the fuel pump area, and its at about 5000-6000rpms when floored only, im guessing thats just the sound it makes. i put my hand on the cover and floored it and thats where its coming from. is it normal i think if i had the seats on it wouldn't do that, because the foam pushes down on that cover, and muffles sound.

at idle the fuel pump makes the sound of a blank TV in an empty silent room only a little louder

even if my fuel pump is only 2-3 years old? i put my back seats in and now the sound is gone. my dads work installed the pump so it might be some weird aftermarket one thats just noisy.

DCColegrove just posted this, and I trust him, he seems like he knows what he's doing.

In my meager experience... For the late BMWs with the in-tank Main pump the OE VDO pumps are much better than the Bosch replacement or any aftermarket pump I've seen.

For the early cars (external main) Bosch is pretty much the only game in town.
