    An A/C question

What type of A/C do I have on my 1991 325i BMW? Can it be converted to the newer (or newest) A/C? If so, where can I find the parts and equipement? Thank you. Feel free to put in your suggestions..constructive ones.

You still have R12 (Freon) unless it's been converted, and yes it can be converted. I believe any good shop can convert it for you.

If I can get the parts I should be able to do it myself. Just finished the auto to 5 speed swap. Now its time for the timing belt and hopefully an A/C conversion. So if there is a place where I can buy the stuff for the conversion I would be pleased. Thank you though for clarifying that it can be done.

        BMA

I just bought everything needed for the conversion for $68 (including the receiver-dryer).

I'm actually doing the conversion right now... just took a break.

It's under 'air conditioning' - and you buy the R134 retrofit kit and the receiver dryer.

It's under 'climate control'. Cooling would be the radiator and whatnot.

You need to replace the receiver/dryer too. There is one for like $18 in there.

Shouldn't I also get the stuff to put inside? And the tool?

                        The refrigerant to put inside?

                        What tool?

The retorfit kit comes with everything you need, save for the receiver dryer.
