    gas gauge and key problem

    i have looked the past few days haven't found any real answers...well here is my problem:

    i just got my 1991 318is and the gas guage always reads completely full....also when i try to lock my door (to lock the car) it wont lock...it will turn all the way but just wont do anything....waht do i need to replace or what can i fix for that one

    Gas gauge - Remove your instrument cluster, and check to make sure that all the grounding nuts are nice and tight, and pull the fuel gauge out and clean the contacts. Should fix the problem.

    Door locks - Common E30 problem. Your door lock actuator is either dying or dead. Most likely needs to be replaced.

          the gas gauge could also be the screws on the back of the cluster being too tight
