    92 MTech vert questions....

I'm looking at a '92 325i vert, the guy says it's an M Tech car, but from what I know about these things, it must be the "appearance package". The car is green with tan leather interior and it's an AUTOMATIC. I've only seen a couple of crappy pics of it, and it looks like an M Tech rear, hard to tell about the front, and he didn't send any pics of the interior.

So, my question is- what do I need to look for to confirm this is a true M-Tech car. Door sills, seats, leather console(?), leather e-brake handle(?) what else????

    Thanks!

    Bret.

real mtechs only came in red, silver, purple? (rarest)
they came with doorsills, badge, suspension, 15in bbs, leather wrapped console, doorpanels,
    could be auto or manual.

    appearance mtechs came in white.
They came with white interior, no doorsills, badge or suspension
    mostly auto
Renting my rear wheel bearing tool kit. SIR

Hmmm, what about a green (Oxford green?) car with what looks like Mtech front, rear + sides..... Assuming all of this was an option or something from BMW?

Still need to look at the car in person, but from the pics it definitely looks like the real deal.

unless it was a "individual" mtech (where you could order anything you wanted from the factory for $$$), I don't think its real. It'll be pretty easy to tell if its legit in person though.

Your best bet would be to look for the leather dash/glove box, 15" wheels and lowered suspension. Those tell the 'real' mtechs apart from the 'appearence' mtechs.

...and black, w/ black interior and black wheel centers. No green M-tech's unless (doubt it) ordered as an Individual car.

Pretty sure I have seen pictures of this car at one point when it was for sale a while back. Engine bay is white... I think it is a white on white mtech appearance car that has been resprayed green and someone redid the interior in beige.

Yep, that sounds like this car. Guy finally came thru with some details after several emails asking him for info or clarification on some stuff.

Sounds like he's broke and can't afford to keep the car on the road, now it's not running and he's trying to get rid of the car to make some $$$ to get a plane ticket "out of the USA" (his exact quote).

I'm trying to get together with him now to go look at it tomorrow- I'll post up some pics if I do.

                Thx, Bret.

Well, I finally managed to get a look at the car in question.

It *was* an MTech appearance package car, originally white with white interior + white basketweaves. Someone painted the car green (looks OK, except they didn't do the engine bay- so that looks kinda crappy), but it's still got the white baskets, and a small "MTechnic" badge on the front grille and rear decklid- also has the full Mtech body kit (front dam, rear apron + side skirts with side panels- no deck spoiler).

Someone also sprayed the white interior beige- it looks fair, obviously NOT the original color- and some of it has flaked off so that looks extra crappy. Front seats are in decent physical shape, the rear seat has apparently been recovered in beige material- so it looks good.

I made the guy an offer on the car, I'll post up his reply once he gets back to me.
