    No front tow hook

So after doing a plastic bumber conversion on my 87is, I failed to realize that I don't have a threaded hole behind the little thingy in the bumper cover (the post for the torx screw that holds the bumper cover on is right behind it). So I took off my bumper cover to take a look, and there's just no threaded hole for the tow hook at all. Any suggestions, options or parts for putting one in?

    TIA

you should have the threaded hole thingy behind a small cover in the black bumper trim- it's actually a part of the passenger side bumper shock.

What kind of bumper shocks did you use to do the conversion?? I think your best bet is to find the original plastic bumper shock and use it if you can.......

I definitely don't have the other bumper shocks. What I think I need is the part that goes on the back of the bumper that has the threaded screw in part of the tow hook. If anyone has that or knows a part number that'd be cool. Also, I know I've seen tow hooks in different places on e30s. Aren't there some other options?

there is no part that goes on the back of the bumper- it's a welded part of the plastic bumper SHOCK.

#12 is the shock, #20 is the little plastic cover you pop out to get the tow hook into the threaded part of the shock.

You don't want to pull the car with the plastic bumper- that's why the tow hook threads into the bumper shock, which is then bolted to the body (frame rail).
