oil pump pick up? How does it attach to the pump?

hehhe - yea I think you can just change the oil pick up on a m30 motor and not have to buy/change the whole pump...I'm check ign this out as a new pump is $290...

It appears you could buy Part number 5 for the E34
05 OIL PUMP COVER 11411289145 and bolt it to the E28 pump
The pump is different though between the models, the gasket plate for both is the same part number so the E34 pick up will bolt to the E28 pump but who knows if it will work or not.
Did you not ever Email Steve Haywood about the pump he sells?
If you need a picture of my actual E34 oil pump I can do that, I can snap a pic of my E24 pump also once I pull the oil pan off my block.

I'll compare them though for you to make sure the pump section of both is the same width. if it is then I don't see any problem with you bolting the E34 pick up to the E24 pump you will have.
