can i take out some initial timing?

i still can't quite get through emissions. i know that the timing is controled by the dme, but can i manually take some of the initial timing out by retarding the dist initially, so that i will have less advance at full to try to help with emissions?

1 year old o2 (six months of which i was in the hospital or not driving it)
new plugs
recent oil change
cleaned the t bird maf elements
new cat
very recent seafoaming (twice on the top end and i can in gas 2 tanks ago)

valves adjusted a couple of months before going into the hospital


it has dbilas itb's
300ish deg. cam
t bird maf
split second arc-2a piggy back


^^^ it has passed with all this no prob before with just a new cat and a slight detune on the arc-2a

it runs strong and gets good mileage

What are you are blowing it on Nox ?

nox is 3.1 with an alowable of 2.50 (fail)
hc is 1.04 allowable is 1.0 (fail)
co is 4.02 allowable of 12.00 (pass)

i was talking to a freind that told me about diusconnecting one of the injectors to go through, it is an old fox body mustang trick. i might try that as a last resort. it should pass w/o doing that though!

i am going to base line everything, retune it and see where it is. i am also going to a different emmissions station this time and see if it is not run by fucktards!

I made mine pass for high hc's by adjusting out the idle screw out on the afm, but that only helps at idle, you didnt put whether it failed at idle or loaded so im assuming idle.
