I did it on my 1991 325i. I personally loved the sound, it has a loud roar to it with a throat engine. Every now and then it might get annoying on the freeway when you have the rpms constant. But I'd do it again on my another E30 (89 325i)

It's really cheap too, cost me 65 bucks.

To the above poster, wouldn't it weigh less than the stock muffler?

        ....Theoretically....

.Only way to really measure would be on a dyno.
I had straight pipes and appreciated them.
Yes, you do save some weight with them too.

You gain power but it'll sound crapy. I don't like the sound so I say it'll sound like crap but maybe you will like it.. :?:

It isn't just loud, but it sounds nasty to me :x .

Cut the pipes before the cat. and put some turn downs.

Have you done this to your car and didn't like it?
Mine was connected to a stock OEM replacement muffler and was nowhere near crappy sounding to me or the others on here who heard it. It was louder than stock for sure but not irritating like a Honda or some other crappy straight pipe set up.

The m20 emits good sound even stock, that's pretty hard to fuck up unless u go with some hacked up muffler...

              All this is IMO
