    Machined Parts?!?!

Alright im a machinist and i would like to know what parts i would be able to make for my e30s. Either Make and sell or make for my self.....

Im just asking for some input on ideas so i can mess around with it at work or sumthing.

    Lathe parts or milled parts......

Thanks for anyone who responds :)

I made this a while ago and had some interest in it. If you can make something similar for a decent price you should be able to sell a few.

So like what do you mean by "make" parts? Is this something you want to be able to produce and sell, or just hot rod shit for your own car?

Here is a short list of stuff I would do were I a machinist:

      1. 4 lug BBK using the basic premise of 300mm.de engineering: Re-drilled Audi TT rotors, adapters to fit some 4 pot caliper. Cheap BBK gooness.

      2. Some kind of radical rocker arms, with roller ends, especially on the cam end. Steeper valve ramps would be no problem, no more breakage, plus you could make a lexan valve cover to show off your million hour valve train.

      3. Coilovers for the rear, maybe even some kind of better suspension design that actually performs better that the trailing arm thing we have...dunno, not my bag.

IMO, race cars belong on a track, I drive on the street. Big booming stereo, wild alarm, creature comforts in a nice looking sport/luxury package is more my cars thing...if I were to build a race car it would be light and stiff and never ever see the street.

So yeah, either way, do something and post about it, pics and all.

      Luke

Making parts is easy, designing them is hard.

We need more engineers making posts like this...

Not a bad idea. Ireland Engineering makes a set with eccentric bolts. Lets see what can be done.

Just exactly where would you put a camber plate? These cars are a semi-trailing arm design with shocks and springs...no place to put a camber plate.

You can buy adjustable trailing arm bushings for about $50 that will make your camber and toe adjustable.

To the OP: make a rear wheel bearing tool!

you will have better results if you stroke a machinists crank.

i hope you mean a BS cause if you get an arts degree in engineering i dont know how much i would trust it. I would design shit for fun if i had the motivation/software

edit: my idea for a design (and i hate to give it up) is a timing CHAIN system for the m20
