    window motors

i have an '87 325is, and i believe the passenger side window motor is pooped out.
explain to me which ones i can use. i heard there is a difference between early/late model window motors. i think i read that the early ones are universal. any of this true? if anyone knows where i can find one, id apprecaite it alot. thanks.

Early motors are universal, window regulators are of course, not.

Check for play in the center of the gear where the motor drives the regulator, sloppy gear makes the motor "bind".

        Nope, motor comes off.
What you may want to do is remove the motor from the regulator but leave it plugged in and see if it works that way. Then you know where the problem lies.

make sure the armature of the motor doesn't move too much when running it apart.

2 Torx (T35, IIRC) hold the motor on, IIRC.
