Converting a manual top to a electric top?

How hard is it to convert a manual convertible top to a automatic top. I might of found some motors from a friend for 20 bucks in working condition.

I have one manual and one automatic top. The automatic is nice when everything works right. I much prefer the manual. It always works. Stick with the manual.

Most people with electric tops are looking to convert to manual...that should tell you something.

Agreed. Power tops are for girls.

Besides, it would be a major PITA + big $$$$ to convert one. Lots of limiter switches, motors, gears, wiring, etc. The top frames themselves may even be different.

The automatic is great when everything is in good working condition but converting to one is alot more work than its worth. The power top mechanism takes up more space so your going to be cutting up your tonneau well area quite a bit. My dad has one in his car and its cool but he still wants to convert to a manual.

I like having a power top but I can't deny that it requires frequent tweaking.

I can't imagine how much effort would be required to convert a manual to a power top. Definitely not worth it.
