i have the Z3 steering rack, which is the same as a e36 rack only with 2.7 turns lock to lock. getting the kit from zionsville will make your life alot easier and will allow to install it as easily as doing a stock replacement. although after installing it your car's allignment will be way out of whack. if you cant get zionsvilles kit then you need to heavily modify the coupler, make spacers for the rack, bend a e36 high pressure hose to fit your e30, and buy several replacement parts.

No, according to someone else on another forum, they said all the z3's had the 2.7 but the m coupe.
