what does this sensor do ???

well , I thought I could paste the link from real oem, but it wont work. So anyway its called the "Position Transmitter" Part# 12521279395. Its on the lower timing belt cover and reads the crank position. Its connected to the engine diagnostic port. Pelican parts calls it a timing sensor ?

Is this on your 86? M20B25 engines and later production M20B27 engines have the crank position sensor on the lower right (exhaust side) front of the engine. Your 86 would have it's cylinder ID and crank position sensors mounted in the bell housing.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I looked at a schematic <<spelling<< last night at it appears it just plugs into the diagnostic port. I assume it tells the scanner timing degrees when hooked up. Its on the right hand side if your standing in front of the engine.
