    Central locking self install

Hi I am going to try and install a central locking kit on my car, my self. What I would like is some general info on how, maybe some web sites or something. What im thinking of doing is to tapp in and solder some wires (correct not randomly lol) onto the 12 v line from the boot lamp, and have the "brain" in the boot area. Will this work or do I know nothing? lol.
BTW I havent bought a kit yet.
    Thanks, Andy

Looking for the same answers although some people say it's more of a pain than it's worth. :(

      Hi guys.
I will be removing my central lock system on my '87. I personally want to have the drivers door unlock as I press the unlock button on my transmitter, then if I press the same button within a couple of seconds it will unlock the passenger door.
I will then use the button labeled "Trunk" to unlock the trunk, or at least I will until I learn how to actually make the trunk "pop" open...I wanna be able to put groceries in with my hands full.

I personally could not care less if I can unlock all doors from the key...keyless is the ONLY way to go, IMHO. Paint damage, rain, cool factor, plus being able to lock your doors from a distance should you forget are a few reasons keyless should be a top priority for most people. I consider remote start to be essential too, since I believe in warming my motor up before I hit the street. I like my windows defrosted too, plus I want to be able to have my car air conditioned should the weather dictate that.

If you are a clod who can't seem to check your pockets before you wash laundry, or have babies chew on your keys, or often drop your keys in the toilet, perhaps you should stick to manual locks, or a bus pass. I bet you would do fine with keyless entry with or without an alarm.

oh HEY...I sell alarms and keyless entry systems, BTW, and can help you install it! (shameless plug for commercial activities)

Wait, don't you have to have a free hand to push the button on a remote anyway? ;)

What are you going to do with all of the central lock components? Are you going to sell it and if so how much?

all I am trashing is the brain itself...all other parts will be used. I just might be willing to ship it somewhere should it pass the required inspection. I do know I wouldn't accept any money for it, just cover the shipping. I should be yanking the thing next month, I hope.

Yes Matt, it does require a FINGER....guess which one?
            heh...

He he, I won't be able to drive it anywhere until Dec. 12th. I don't want an alarm anyway, just keyless entry.

If you are ever over here in Bend, give me a call on my cell (541-350-2647), and we can meet up for lunch or something.
