hey wassup....my first post, and hopefully somebody can help me out with my little issue... i installed a short shift kit from ireland engineering, and everything went pretty smooth, installed easy, then i went to drive it, and first thing i noticed is that it was kinda tough getting it into first gear, but it went in, and as i pulled forward, i couldnt help but notice the entire shift rod was tweaking back and forth, as well as a rubbing noise of some sort....the faster i went, the faster the movement and noise became....anybody know whats up with this?? thx!

Shifter is rubbing against your driveshaft. Check the shifter, if it's z3/z4 lever, it has to be slightly modified to fit right. SSK usually make it tougher to get into gears, most people describe it as "crisp" and like it. Get under the car and see where it rubs. Does your 87 have an aluminum lever support or steel support. If it's aluminum, may want to check play in the rear mount. Good luck.
AND SEARCH FORUMS this came up many times.
