    ok.....

Well hopefully, although unlikely, this can be sorted out quickly... I was driving this evening cruising at about 65-70mph and all of the sudden the engine just dies... All of the electronics stayed on and operational, so I just cranked it back up and kept on driving as I had to be somewhere. Hasn't done it since, but considering I'm driving about 300 miles on Wednesday, if anyone could give any possible solutions I'd be more than happy!

    Thanks in advance.

thats how e30's are, you build tons of trust in them and then one day they do something suspicious and then there fine again for another couple years. once my car had hot start problems and then i just fixed itself.

Seems to be the way. Well I trust it enough I suppose. It was a 'kind' shut off, I didn't even realize at first...

Same EXACT thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago but my car didnt start back up. The fuel pump took a shit and now my car is fueled by Honda (Integra GSR fuel pump).

I would check when it happens next time EXACTLY what died. If it loses instrument panel, i would suspect ignition switch.

Instruments were good, everything electrical worked, RPM's just dropped down to zero, it was just a big wtf moment. I really hope it isn't one of the fuel pumps, as that would be a pain in the ass to replace.

Do you know if your car has an early or late engine harness?

If it is late, there is a connector under the intake manifold that typically quite corroded.

Easy sleazy fix is to take it apart and clean with CRC.

              HTH,
              Luke

CRC "Electrical Contact Cleaner" is my personal fave.

Same thing happened to my old car. Turns out the fuel pump was shot. You can sometimes tell if it's dying by if a whining noise is coming from under the rear seat. If you decide you need to change it, just ask. It's not hard at all.
