    Fuel gauge doesn't work

On the 325i I just picked up ('89 model), the fuel gauge reads a little under 3/4 tank the entire time. I've been using the trip meter to gauge when to gas up.

What could be the problem? I don't think it's the SI batteries seeing as the rest of the cluster functions normally. Possibly a short in the fuel gauge?

    Anyone?

I'm not any kind of expert here... but I'm wondering: Does the light still work when you get REALLY low? If so, the guage is probly still working fine. Pull the cluster out and make sure the bolt on the back of the fuel guage is tight (or like in my case, make sure it's there, PERIOD).
