    Fuel Pump wiring

I had a no-start/dying car problem that I posted about earlier this week...after running the diagnostics in the Bentley manual I have it down to the fuel relay sending power to my fuel pump, but it not arriving (12v at the relay down to .02V at the pump.

This indicates a short in the positive wire. Should I bother tracking down the short and if so, where does the wire run (along the side of the drivers door sill or center console) or should I just run a new wire and cut the old one?

Those wires run along the driver's side sill and then duck under the car underneath the rear seat. My guess is a damaged or corroded wire
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Jlevie,

I pulled that part, and there appears to be 2 bundles that converge in the drivers side sill. I'm pretty sure based on how it looks in the engine bay that the fuel pump power wires from the relay run center console, then over to the sill, then to the rear seat/fuel tank.

I think I'm gonna cut the signal wire and wire a new one from rear seat to door sill to engine bay.

I guess it could be different on an 88, but since my car is fully gutted all of the harnesses are visible. There's a wire bundle from the sill harness on each side that runs over to the console, but not one that runs from the dash to the console area. Nor is there any wiring running past the e-brake. I'm pretty sure that the fuel pump wires run down the driver's side sill.
