    whining noise

got this weird whining noise, only when my foot is on the gas pedal, cant really notice it in first gear, but all the others as i accelerate there is a whining noise, sounds like its the diff, but if i let off the pedal, the sound goes away, and if i roll in neutral and rev it up to the rev's my car would be at in gear there is no noise as well, also in neutral rolling down a hill there is no whine either, is my diff going bad or something else to do with the drivetrain?

That could be from mild wear in the differential. Unless it is really loud, it probably isn't anything to worry about. You might find that changing the differential fluid helps.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I have this after I installed a 4.10 VC LSD. I did not have the noise in my 3.73 open. Some of my past cars have had it and some have not. I never did anything about it, nothing has blown up yet.
I did have the noise really bad in a camaro Z28 a long time ago, and had to replace the carrier bearings. Don't think our cars have these bearings though.

my diff does that, but i can only notice it when i dont have the back seats in. i have a 4.10LSD it only has 90,000miles on it but still makes the noise.

Just put a louder stereo in it and the noise goes away.

my rear seats are missing right now, and it has synthetic redline in it, for about a year so its not that old, maybe ill take a look at it and see what it looks like, or just find an LSD at the pick a part. theres a 325is with the diff still in it down there.

yeah its most noticable in 3-5, i checked the fluid level, it was a little low so i filled it and same sound, i did notice that fluid is leaking from the fill and drain holes tho, gotta use a different washer or something.
