    Fuel Pump Replacement.

I have never done it before and my biggest question is, what is the safest way to plug or block the fuel lines so I don't dump tank full of fuel on the pavement when I disconnect the pump? I read somewhere that vice grips will work but I don't want to crack the fuel line.

Anyone have any tricks that worked for them? Or maybe a link to a good diy?

A 3/8" dowel rod paired with the hose clamp works.
    Vice grips work fine.
If you run the car and pull the middle relay from the holder under the little black cover and let the car die, you'll spill a lot less. Either that or let the car sit for a few hours.

Just pull the fuel pump relay with the car running, wait for it to stall, and go at it. Minimal fuel will spill. I think I had less than .25 cup of fuel come out. Wait a minute, which pump? Your eta has 2.

The external one on the side of the drivers side is the one I am talking about.

Ok. you will get about .25 cup of fuel at most. just pull the relay while its running and wait for it to stall. That will bleed off any pressure in the system.

Yea the way i did it was with a gerber ,flat head ,hammer ,and rachet.
Becareful with the plastic plug ins they break easy.
As far as the gas have less then 1/2 of a tank. Cause I had 3/4 of a tank. It spilled out taking out the pump and putting it in.
