How to test coil? M20b25

Hi all, wanted to be sure I am following the procedure properly since my Bentley is kind of vague about testing my coil.

disconnect coil wire
disconnect leads to coil
(Primary) test resistance between two power hookups
(Secondary) test resistance between coil output and one power hookup (which one?)

BMW coils dont have a negative, so either one should be fine
