Turn an iX into a normal i

I can get a 325iX touring with automatic for $400 with high mileage. I have another motor and trans out of a 325i that I would like to put in it but I don't want the all wheel drive. The body and interior are good. Is this possible???

Why would you not want the AWD system? Seems like you'd have to change a lot of parts to get where you're thinking of going, and you'd be killing an iX in the process.

ix tourings are very rare cars, don't kill it. Also, the ix motor has some unique quirks. I know the oil pump rotates the opposie of I cars, but I don't know about the rest of it.

Ok so I am still thinking about getting this car and leaving it an iX but it would have to be a manual and on Germany ebay they want 150 euro for the trans and 150 euro for the transfer which is almost $500. But then I guess I could sell the auto one on german ebay for about the same.

The oil pickup and dipstick are in the back of the block so you would have to run that crazy iX pan due to subframe, or maybe, just maybe, get a z1 oil pan (z1 uses iX block). And don't be surprised if you need a custom driveshaft and trans mount. And you would have to run iX front, outer stub axles in order to keep the wheel bearing in tact, because the iX uses different struts and tubes and the tops mount totally different from the others which secure the bearing differently. And that rear diff uses a different type of LSD that just doesn't hold up to 2 wheel drive abuse. I think that would cover it...

Yeah leave it a IX as it is rare being a touring. Just deal with the cost of swapping it over when you can.

Ok so I am content with leaving it an iX but I would have to swap it to a manual. I would need:
              Manual trans iX
              Transfer from manual iX
              Pedal assembly
              Manual flywheel
              clutch
              Slave cylinder
              shifter

              Anything else??

I'd check on realoem to see if you need a front (and rear) driveshaft. I think the autos a longer trans. And clutch master, hydro lines, cut that plug on your brake fluid res., the different center console. you need a bunch of shifter parts, just go to real oem for the list.

Well according to realoem this is a Europe only car. As for as the location, it is near Nuernberg, Germany. Come on over

I drove this car today and it has a bad vacuum leak on the intake and it will not shift unless you let off the gas and let it shift. It is just sitting for now and will be at least 3 weeks before anyone can but it or part it so I have time to decide
