    Installed a 4.10LSD

I couldn't find a used 4.27LSD and the dealer wanted 3k cdn for a new one so I went for a 4.10LSD... Acceleration wasn't much different, you only notice it off the line in 1st but the rest feels the same... If any other 318ic people want a LSD the 4.10 is just fine.
It's also nicer on the hwy. I bought it from Eurodepot, they took good care of me. The diff has a 90 waranty, came painted and detailed, I used Redline LSD gear oil.

I've got a 4.10LSD. Makes the car feel a little quicker during around-town driving, but on the highway I don't feel much of a difference.

Anyone know of a cheap upgrade for someone using a E36 differential?

Do you have a E36 or do you have a e30 with a E36ti diff? Either way just change it to a LSD and lower the gear set for quicker acceleration. LSD diffs aren't cheap but worth the money imo...

I bought the car w/a 4.10 E30 M3 LSD in it, but he also sent a spare 3.91LSD with it. I stuck the 3.91 in to see how it felt, and then put the 4.10 back in. MUCH better.

I'd love the 4.27 LSD, but those are hard to come by. I think you'll like the 4.10 LSD, I'm enjoying mine. :D

I see you have two E30's which one are we talking about? I'm assuming the 325...
You felt a large difference between the 3.91 and 4.10? I didn't feel much with my swap, but there was a difference. I'm just happy have a lsd... I'm also happy to be able to make it through an intersection with out having to shift in the middle... I think the 4.10 ratio is perfect...

If I find a 4.27 lsd I'll consider switching, but as it stands now I'm having fun...

No, I'm referring to the 318. A 0-60 run w/the 3.91 put me at about 6200RPM in second. With the 4.10, it's basically run it to 7k in second and you're there. Makes track days and autocrosses much more fun.

Noticeable difference from 4.10 to 3.91?

Did you guys say there was a "noticeable" difference between a 4.10 and a 3.91? I currently have an open 4.10 and do mostly crowded city driving. I just bought the viscous 3.91 LSD figuring I wouldn't be giving too much off the line and getting slightly better mileage. Figured the 3.91 was a better alternative to a 3.73 LSD in terms of giving up performance for economy.

So, how much more sluggish off the line is the 3.91 vs. a 4.10? Just curious. I'm still gonna do the swap as I've already purchased the LSD, but was wondering if you guys could offer some feedback.

                      Thanks

                      Jon

If you feel adventurous enough or if you want to pay a shop to do it you can actually put the 4.10 ring and pinion gear onto the 3.91 LSD and thus you would have a 4.10 LSD. Thats also a way you can use the "big case" gears with the "little case".

I think the 318ti came with 4.27lsd. Try check that.

Acutally, I think that came with a 4.46. I think the 4.27LSD came on the 318i E30 cabs.
