No fog light air duct to intake

Wasn't sure how to title it, but I guess you get the idea.

My driver's side fog light got ripped out by hitting a tire tread on I90 at 70MPH.

The missing fog light look has grown on me (gives character) and I am now thinking about installing a large bendable tube which would force air towards my K&N cone filter.

I know people usually use empty fog light ducts for brake cooling, but I do not feel like giving up my 1 working light.

Thoughts? Has anyone done or thought about this before?

i read some where that ram air doesn't even start working untill 90mph, and thats with an enclosed box, i think it built around .2 psi at 90mph. but its better than a hood scoop or removing a headlight i guess.

Mostly true, but getting cool(er) air into the intake would be a benefit since that cone filter is just sucking hot air out of the engine bay (unless you have a heat shield). But, you need to make sure you are not going to suck up a bunch of dirt and water through that thing.

+1 that's why you don't see road cars with this. First full puddle you've sucked up water.

There is a flat area of the engine bay which I would have to modify in order to get air to the cone.. I was thinking of just having a elbow pipe pointing up towards the intake... but I guess it really isn't worth the hassle especially since I drive rain, sleet or snow.

I could also install butterfly valve so I could close the duct when it is raining :)

Yeah, if you actually read my post you would know that I am not looking to replace my missing fog light.

But thanks for offering.. I might consider it if you would sell one of them for cheap.

I did the exact same thing on my 2004 volvo s60r... i just drilled a 3 inch hole under the air box and routed some neoprene duct to the fog light and i used a naca duct... since you have two points of air entry water is not sucked into the airbox..... even at high speeds on the highway during heavy rain storms...

I know of a scion tc that's had this very same mod for over a year now and never had the slightest problem with aqua lock. As long as the opening doesn't remain completely submerged it doesn't ever create a vacuum so no water makes it to the airbox.
