    Retardly high idle

when i start my car up (engine is cold) the car will start as usual but insted of the rpms leveling off at 800 the go all the way up too 2000-2200 then back to 800 then once the temp is up outta the blue the rpms drop back down to about 600
    wtf is wrong

How long dos it stay at 2000? Every car I've been in revs up when it is started and it is cold and then drops back to idle right away. Does it stick at 2000 or just rev up then drop?

            it's an 86 325eS
but it never did it before i fixed the vacuum leak in it
but i guess if thats what it's supposed to do thats cool
i knew that it's supposed to rev up the back down but i was figuring that 2 grand was a little high

Mine does the same thing. I start it, and it jumps up to about 2k, then settles back around 800 in about 1-2 seconds.
