    junk yard tripping

most of the Bimmers seen in the junk yards around here don't have key and if you are looking for stuff requiring removal of the steering wheel you're out of luck.

unless you're lucky and your current key (suitably worn) will insert and unlock the steering wheel allowing it to be removed. doesn't seem to have to be the same model either, mine undid a 528e and a 325i

luck was with me this morning...<G>

You shooved your key into another car and it unlocked it? Did it take some force? I'd be a little afraid of breaking mine and not being able to leave.

Bound to unlock one eventually. There are only so many combinations, before they have to be reused.

Had a Ford truck once and a Ford Bronco. Both used the same key oddly enough. They were identical.

Also depends on how worn the lock cylinder is. I used to have a S-10 truck, and I could unlock it with any key that was the right shape and size. I used to be able to use the key from my bicycle lock as a spare if I was ever locked out.

I reefed on one M-tech wheel thinking I could break the lock pin, and instead I was rocking back and forth so hard like a retard, I broke the seat back that I was rocking in.

there's a pretty heft pawl that engages a set of partitions inside the wheel hub's ID. I don't see how any amount of tugging and wrenching could get it loose without a key or a hacksaw.
