    top cover steering column

    1984 325e

    I want to change the top steering column cover. mine was busted up by a car thief.

    bottom cover is easy...4 screws. but the top?

    PITA.
    I can't recall how I did mine, but I do remember it wasn't any fun. I think you may have to remove the steering wheel and 'drop' the column switches. There is a pretty large flange that sticks up at the dash end. You have to sort of peel it up off the column and towards the dash to get it out. Too long ago for me to really recall, sorry.
