    custom pedals

If you were to have at your disposal a machine shop, cad software, and some time... and the desire to make parts for your e30, what would you do in the way of pedals?

I am interested in suggestions since I am no automotive engineer, just a lowly designer. I am thinking that I want all the pedals a touch narrower so my big feet don't hit the brake while I am stepping on the loud pedal. Other than that, I can't think of anything I'd change, just a pedal with a bit of traction.

I am also planning on making a steering wheel spacer to help my driving position, so I am not too worried about adjustability in the pedals. Maybe just a touch so that I can make them line up well with each other.

    Thanks yall..

If I were to mess with my pedals, I'd get a 750 master cylinder to keep the brake pedal from smashing down so far, make some slight extension (to the left) to the gas pedal, and take a hair off of the brake pedal. Your feet can't be that wide, I wear a size 14 and my shoes are very wide and I usually only clip the brake pedal when letting off of the throttle. The pedals are positioned pretty well stock, there's not much need for improvement unless you're really getting into it

Try doing the SS lines. Trust me you'll appreciate it a whole lot ;)

man, it sucks having skinny feet. I really have to reach to heel/toe. I need to drop the $$ on a new gas pedal. One that is L shaped.

Also, how does the 750 cylinder work? is it a bolt on, would there be other mods that I would need to do? I have SS lines and bleed the brakes and its still a bit spongy compared to new cars. I would love to have the braking leverage they have.
          Im now E30less.

            im with bigfoot ^
i wear a size 13 1/2 so i do the same, and on rare occations i clip the brake when pushing in the clutch. its a fantasic jerk that really gets my day started right!
also the toe of my foot will sometimes grab the under-dash panneling right above the pedals when letting a pedal back out.

            damn big feet!

What kind of wide body flippers do you guys wear he he ?? Some shoes are wider than others...I have problems with my size 12 feet only when I wear some of my boots. I usually wear old sch. reebok sneakers when I am out to challenge the laws of physics :D .... those are almost like socks on your feet and I have no problem. I can still heel and toe as needed too...I guess I am lucky !

It seems the consensus is that foot modification would be more popular than custom pedals. I am going to go ahead with stock-size pedals, and add a little vertical traction while making sure that my feet can still move laterally a little. That is, I am going to put horizontal grooves across the pedals. I'll post a drawing when I get one together.

I know we've kinda gotten off topic, but I thought I'd add..
My brother wears a size 14 shoe and he complains terribly about my pedals and the room between them. I've never had a problem ;-)
