Front wheel bearing replacement

Hey guys,

I was wondering if I could use the rear wheel bearing Sir Tools B-90 tool for front wheel bearings as well. I eventually removed the rear bearing by using a slide hammer for a couple of hours, and then installed the new one by using a socket and a BFH, but I heard that isn't good for it. I'm basically looking to make this job as smooth as possible.

If the B90 tool doesn't work for the fronts, is there a good puller anyone can recommend?

you dont need a tood for the fronts

Lift the car up, remove wheel, remove brake caliper and rotor, pop out center cap on the wheel, remove bearing cap on front hub, reinstall wheel and lower car, using breaker bar loosen hub nut, lift car back up, loosen nut but leave on a few threads, grab wheel/tire on both sides, count, 3,2,1, PULL.

Remove wheel, remove hub/bearing assembly, use small puller to remove inner race thats stuck on the spindle. If your lucky it will all come off in one piece.

Reassemble with new parts, done.

Or just buy the bentley manual and you have instructions for all the jobs ;)

I've heard that you need a really skinny axle nut socket for the front wheel bearings. Will this work?

you just need a non-impact socket

you can get the correct size at sears


i did this the same way as listed above but used an impact to remove the nut and used a 3 jaw puller to remove the hub assembly

was pretty easy
