    No light when open door

Once again, my 85 318i, no lights come on and no chime when either door opens. The lights work too when turned on manually. Any ideas? It could be the buttons in the door jams but BOTH don't work at the same time???

If you open the other door do they turn on? If yes check the doors switch and make sure it's still functioning. I know once i just had to rescrew it in to get it to ground out better.

        still not working....

ok, I removed and inspected both switches for both doors, and they look great. I cleaned them anyways and made sure they had a good ground. Still no light when I open the door. This is getting very annoying cause I hate having to fumble in the dark for the light. is there some sort of switch/relay for this somewhere??? what should I do next? Neither light will turn on regardless of either door open or light switch position.

Maybe check the delay relay, I had some problems with the lights and after I replaced that relay they worked fine.

Under the driver's side speaker, I put a used one in, so it was free. Check the wires on it, as I had the central locking plug corrode that is right next to it(why you'll find the control box under the dash). I rewired it but I think I left the box alone as at that time the lights were working.

...most likely its just the fuse. Check for blown fuses in the fuse box...I forgot which one it is, but there are only like 20 of them. I say check that first.

                        still not working....

ok, I pulled out the black box that the door sensor runs to, and I pulled a plug out of it and it measured 16-17 volts with the door open and 0 when closed. After fucking around with it a little and putting it all back together, the passenger light comes on when opening the the passenger door, nothing happens when opening the drivers door. wtf???? the drivers door switch works obviously.
