Can I swapp US E36 M3 gearbox in my M20b25?

Well the tittle says pretty much, was wondering if the M3 gearbox will fit directly or not, what flywheel, clutch will I need to install.

Also ours Getrag 260 what ratio has vs. the E36 M3 gearbox, I would really like to know it cuz a friend has 1 m3 gearbox laying arround in it's home and since my gearbox has little issues, mostly when I enagage 2Th (trrrrrr) and if the M3 gearbox is larger ratio that will be awesome for me, that's why I ask

    thanks!!

The gear box should bolt up but you will need an e36 M3 flywheel, starter, and an e30 M3 driveshaft (I have one for sale). Also I believe the tranny will be at an angle when installed, this is all based off swapping an M/S50 and using the original e30 tranny. The tranny will be considerably heavier as well, so you will gain some weight.

Why, Diego? The E36 325 Getrag gearbox is nothing special and the ZF M3 gearbox is worse, IMO. They have design flaws and are difficult to shift under heavy loading and weight transfer, the shift feel is crap, and they are a bit heavier than the E30 Getrag.

I'd recommend picking up a used transmission off an M20 car with low miles and swapping it in. They're bulletproof, they can handle your kind of power (remember, Hartge built 3.5L+ M30 cars used the 260 trans), and unless the transmission hasn't had the oil changed or has internal problems, the shift feel of the 260 is awesome.

        Just my $.02
