e30 power tops have a weak connecting rod that are prone to breaking and bending. Its about $300 from BMW. This is what happened to mine. Plus the motor isnt working.

Anyone at least know how to lock the covering top?

from what we were told with ours the power and manual tops themselves are different. Not 100% sure on that myself cause it seems stupid. I'd say all you really need is the mechanism that locks the top cover (not sure what its really called) down and you'd be set. that could be really easy to obtain, not possible, and i could have no idea what i am talking about. I've never seen a manual top e30 so i am not sure how they latch.

plus you can't use them as an escape hatch in an emergency underwater escape situation :)
