    leaks

Hey, I have a 88 325is, its leaking automatic tranny and coolant fluids. They dont appear to be mixed, just maybe two hoses leaking in the engine compartment? I can only see one hose that looks like its leaking, its coming off the drivers side of the radiator. Doesnt the radiator cool the automatic transmission? Can anyone shed some light on this? thnx. Im taking it to the dealer wednesday, all the mechanics around here are dope heads. I recently had the tranny re-built at Mr. Transmission they did piss poor work still having them work out the kinks, but this tranny fluid is coming from the front of the car near the radiator, not near the tranny.

There's an 'in' line and an 'out' line that goes from the tranny to the bottom of the radiator. They run along the driver's side frame rail and are tough to miss. Make sure that the fittings at the bottom of the radiator are tight.

No, the oil cooler cools just that - motor oil.

There are two lines that go from your auto tranny to the bottom of the radiator where the tranny fluid is cooled by the radiator.

          hmmm

if im leaking tranmission and coolant, I replaced two coolant hoses once before. Im wondering if they would mix or?? I checked my tranny dipstick, the fluid was red, nothing funky. Is there any chance of like cross-contamination or anything terrible that could happen? I just dont want a huge bill, this car is killing my wallet, but I still love it :\

I don't really see how the coolant and tranny fluid could mix. But you still should take care of any leaks (obviously).

There is noting fun about chaning auto tranny hoses. THat thing holds a lot of fluid that needs to be drained before attempting this. Just a word to the wise, I think I was told somewhere in the nieghborhood of 10-12 quarts. I have to do this as well and have been putting it off just for this reason. I'm really hoping to kill the tranny so I will have an excuse to do a manual swap!
Just livin in the OC minus my E30
