Lurching, weird driving at lower gear/rpm's.

I'm betting you need a clutch disc...When it warms up, it expands, and this is why your issue goes away...Secondly, the bunny hop could be the same thing...The clutch is working harder to get everything moving in first and second gears but by the time you're in third there's plenty of momentum smoothing things out. Where does your clutch "take-up"? How far up is your pedal when it fully "grabs"?

Yeah, I have the same problem in mine....and mine catches pretty high up...much, much different than the e36s.

Well, thanks for the help. The clutch pedal fully grabs -near- the end of the travel distance. It always seems somewhat spongy, and sometimes the grab point is impossible to predict because it changes. The pedal grabs over a wide distance and slowly makes the car go forward, when it actually catches it'll go normal speed... if you can understand what I mean. Let me reexplain, when you have your foot on the floor, and slowly let it off the car will start going really slowly (this is starting in first) and as you release it further, it'll 'grab' more and go faster until it releases. I don't know if I need a new disc, because when I really step on it and shift into second it'll grip and it'll squeel the tires.

Ugg. It seems harder to make a smooth shift now, just driving regularly. No matter how much I slip the clutch going into gear, it always seems to lurch a little bit ... but, maybe that's normal.

Sounds like a lean fuel mixture, but that never happens in a EFI equiped car unless your plugs are super bad or something.

It may not be your clutch then...Sorry. Look for vacuum leaks and/or other things that could allow "excess" (unmetered) air into the engine. The previous post might be right...

I have the same issue. But not all the time.

After extended period of time of driving (say 30-1 hour of continuous city driving) my car start to "lurch" as well. Mostly in 1st gear. The lurching is pretty severe though.
