    damn wheel bearings...

so my passenger side went out, and i knew for sure it was that one. i drove down a narrow street and could hear the noise bouncing off cars on the right side. so i replaced it. a few days later the left goes out. or so i think? i was reading some threads about it and everyone's saying if the noise gets louder when turning left its the right one; louder when turning right its the left one. well its louder when turning left, and brandon just did his left one and had that same experience. im almost positive everything is fine on the pass. side i replaced. i torqued it right etc. so is it normal for the left one to make noise turning left?

I am assuming you changed the front bearing? It could be the rear that is bad, which is MUCH more of a pain to change.

changed the front pass bearing, but now that calipers being lazy. so now the front drivers bearing is making the whirring noise. and im about 80% sure its the front drivers. but i figured by next month ill order two rear wheel bearings and replace them all....

I have seen front bearings make noise turning both directions, not common, but happens.

          'tis true!

Think about the dynamics tho... you turn left, you put more stress on the right side of the car, so the wasted WB makes more noise. Front/rear are a little harder to pipoint, best to hunt that one down with a friend!

hmm ends up it was my caliper. i was stupid and put my caliper on as a whole instead of taking it apart and reinstalling the mounting then the caliper. the brake pads got fucked in the process. so now its all good got new pads and fixed it all up. guess ill be returning the bearing now...

When the car steers left, it loads the right bearing and the noise disapears. Faulty right bearing. Not the other way around. Torque on the big nut is 250ft.lbs

Changing rear bearings is a tough job, even with tools. I was equipped with all the tools of the trade and it still took me two hours while front ones take under 30 minutes per side.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

qft all you gotta do is lift the car and feel for play in the hub, if it's bad enough to hear while driving it's probably pretty easy to move around.
