search didn't work, this time. srsly....

i have an old shift lever from my e36 318ti. will it make a shorter throw in my 325e? anyone know?

and is that all i gotta do for a SSK in an e30? is the lever? that's all it was in my e36.

    thanks guys!

i havent heard of anyone using a 318ti shift lever in an e30 for an SSK. most people use a Z3 or Z4 shifter.

the lever is techically all you need but depending on the mileage of your e30 you may want to change out the bushings that are around the shifter and selector rod.

true, true. only reason i ask, is, like i said, i have my old 318ti lever taking up space.

i think i'll just try it out, and see. i know it's physically shorter. but i dunno how much.

Basically what matters is the length below the "ball" for a short throw shifter it'll need to be longer than oem.

Theres a thread with measurements of the stock shifters and I think a few E30 shifters are listed. I know there isn't a picture of a ti shifter but you can use the measurements from the E30 ones to compare to yours.

a 325e one would be the same as any e30 one, huh?

do you have the link handy to said measurements?

Yea found it, it is off an Ix, I am guessing it is very similar if not identical to one off a 2 wheel drive car. http://savarturbo.se/~mattias/motor/pictures/shifter/
I was wrong and theres no actual measurements but I think theres some numbers in the big thread below

yeah.... i just went and looked at the ti's lever..... same length from ball to where the selector rod connects.... but i think the lever above it is shorter.

So it won't do anything for you performance wise, I wouldn't bother with it then.

i shan't. dammit. was hoping for a free upgrade. haha.

any other shift levers that could fit? like, e21, or something? they're all over the wreckers here.

the bmw wreckers bend ya over for anything here.
