    post m50 troubles

Does anyone out there know why my HVAC fan will not come on? Nor will my recirculator switch work either. All this worked before the swap and I cannot figure out why they stopped, I am sure I did nothing to them.

Also I would like to rewire the electric fan in front of the a/c condensor. There is the temp sensor on the side of the e36 radiator, but which wire goes where?

Also for some reason my right side-marker fuse blows. I removed all the light fixtures and checked the wires and all seem fine.

Other than the side-marker fuse all others are good.

So they make a new section just for the m50/s50 swap and no one knows enough to help me?

Dude, it sounds like a gambit of gremlins. I have no idea why the engine swap would effect all of those things unless wreaked havoc on your wiring while installing the engine.
      Im now E30less.

Heck, just installing my headlights messed a whole load of things in my car up. The trip computer went crazy, the engine cooling fan went on high speed, and my car kept revving very low and stalling. Eventually all of the problems fixed themselves though. I can hardly imagine what an engine swap would do.

tht is funny. I wish i knew e30 electronics, i wonder if the 1980's BMW engineers did?

e30s have a weird way of fixing themselves after a while.... give it a week and see if they still dont work.... i would say about 3/4 of all electrical problems ive had with stock wiring fixed themselves in under a week

it has been longer than a week.
are there any connections that i could have removed? There is a three wire plug in the glove compartment that I had to remove when I pulled the old DME out. The black wire is the tach signal and I am not usre aobut the other two.

Off topic a bit, but did you just take that black wire and splice it into the m50 harness for the tach?

i used a e36 body side plug, and just used the black wire from there, you can pull it from the harness at the DME but I did not want to fick with that. I still have to wire for the a/c "on" thing, it idles the engine up or something. and ORCA has something about a speed sensor that comes fromt he back of the speedo, cannot figure out what it would be for and all those fuckers give you is wire colors, no numbers or explainations!

Alright, so just to make sure, you took the "body side" tach signal, located in the glove box, and spliced it into the "engine side" m50 harness at pin 20, according to akg, right?

Are all your instruments working well?

You also have to wire the temp guage, that is on AKG. That is done at the engine to body plug. Those are the only two that take signal from the engine. My Eco guage does not work though. Then again I have not wired the vehicle speed sensor forom the back of the speedo to the DME, have you?

                        other than that...

Can anyone answer my first questions?

there is a weird plus to my wiring problem, it seems that with the lights off and the fog light switch turned on when i flip the high/low switch to high the fog lights come on and the low beams glow. Looks cool, but I cannot figure out y they does this, lol. on e of my high beams is burnt out, that may have something to do with it.

Are all the relay the same in the fues box? Well except that one.

No, the motor isn't in the car yet so I haven't done a lot of wiring yet. I don't have the ORCA CD, some I'm just following the akg pin chart.

On another note, did you install the brake booster/master cylinder before or after you dropped the engine in?

do it after unless you want to take the intake manifold off, which may be a good idea, I was worried about breaking it the intire time.

tell me if you figure out the extra wiring that ORCA is so vague about
