    OBC Not working?

Before I painted my car it worked perfect. Then it sat for a while. Now my OBC does not work. The lights on it work, but the screen does not seem to work. It acts very odd, when the car is off, the screen is on, but very faint. And it also only blinks for the time or date. The brigher I turn the headlights the brighter it gets, but it goes from dim to dimmer. Once I turn the car on it shuts off.

Is there a wire for the OBC that goes in to the back of the cluster? That is the only real thing I have touched in the interior. All of the fuses are good, or has something disconnected. Or is my face just dead?

I just resoldered the back of the light bar and adjusted the two little tabs where it connects to the obc and that fix it.

Is there anyway to test if it is the light bar or the OBC its self?

Pull the OBC out, remove the light bar, hook it up to a low voltage source. If the OBC still works, it may be possible to shine a bright light on the screen and see what it says.

I am having problems removing the light bar. I cant seem to open it up. Where exactly is the light bar anyway?

I dunno, I looked at it again. If the car is off and the lights are on the screen is on, but very dim, and the buttons are on regular, once the car gets turned on the screen shuts off. I dont think there is an issue with power to the screen. All it does is give the time and date though, nothing else. I am also unsure if I could change either of them.

Edit: I just noticed that the yellow connection goes to the back of the instrument cluster. I just swapped my cluster out. Could something be wrong with the new cluster. If so, what should I look for?

This is what it was for me. Same symptoms mine had. Easy fix. Let me know if you need help installing it.

Cool, it is inside of the OBC right? How do you get open?

White plastic tray accessible from the side of the OBC. Grab a pair of pliers and pull out gently.

When I had to replace my light bar, I put it a set of LEDs instead. There's a write-up on here somewhere. Cost me ~$4 instead of $30 for a new light bar, and I don't have to worry about them burning out.

I just looked it up, the white bar is on a 13 button OBC. I have a 6 button one.

There is a small light bulb i the back I think 1.5 volt, can get it at the stealer or buy a small bulb and exchange them out of the holder.

It could be an issue with the instrument cluster too- I shorted a couple wires trying to hook up a new outside temperature sensor which fried the OBC, or so I thought, till I had to replace the instrument cluster and the OBC came back with the new cluster.

Ok so i put in my old cluster and it lit up perfect. The memo and temp still dont seem to work, but it does light up.

What should I do from here?

The temp is probably an issue with the sensor, not sure about the memo.
