Car hits a rev limiter at weird times and RPMs...??

i've had this problem on both my bmw's when you bury your foot to the floor the engine kina seems to fall flat on its face around 3/4 of the way up the rpm band it feels close to the same as the rev limiter, then when u let off it'll run fine again. tried fuel filter: no noticeale effect but thats just my limited experience

Not sure if this applies to your car, but there´s a dist rotor with a spring loaded rev limiter, check on that also
