:Beep: and temp "F" blinks ...what's it mean?

What does it mean when the OBC beeps and then the temp pops up with a blinking "F"?

    Sorry, I don't have a manual.

Sometimes it blinks without beeping too. I thought it meant "stop driving me, I'm too cold" but then when I got back in and restarted it to leave, fully warmed up, it beeped again and blinked.

Also, while I'm making a thread, how does the OBC calculate the Range? I've heard the Liter read out isn't accurate on many OBC's, so just wondering if this reading is part of the Range calculation. Same question goes for the MPG read out - is the Liter read out part of that calculation as well?

    Thanks

#1, the beep is actually coming from the gong on the under dash panel on the drivers side.

#2, I think the man above has answered you correctly as it usually chimes when at or below 38 degrees.

Yea, I said OBC because I actually had no idea where it came from - I just confusingly scanned all my read outs expecting some sort of 'engine detenation in: _ seconds' to be flashing to top off the fucking weekend I had.

        good to know.
        thanks.

Any word on the calculation portion?

I think its a simple avg mpg multiplied by the fuel remaining. I wouldnt recommend going below 20-40 miles on it though, as you are then in your "reserve" of your fuel tank, and you are straining your fuel pump 10 times harder.

Ahh I see - so if your Liter read out isn't accurate, then your MPG and Rage read outs arent accurate either.

38 degrees - all BMWs do that. The newer cars beep at 37 degrees. First winter with your car?
