    Deleting the rear antenna w/aftermarket

Any of you guys have the aftermarket antenna located on the rear windshield flat black bar. I’m thinking about repainting my car and the antenna is not working I really don’t like the antenna on the side or visible at all and now would be a good time to covering the hole. Any ideas or reviews about this time of antennas?

    Thanks,
    C

What flat black bar? I suppose you could get a basic antenna and lay it across the back of the rear parcel shelf against the back window so you can't really see it, but I'm not sure how reception would be.

I talked to the stero shop and they told me that they can hide the antenna under the dashboard and reception would be good, but I still have my doubts.

Just hook up the antenna wire to the rear window defogger. It works great on my car.

If you simply hooked the antenna wire up to the rear window defogger and didn't fry the radio, luck was on your side.

Sending +12V into your deck is certain death.

Now, on to your antenna dilemma...

The most common boat antenna that I use is a flat black strip, about 30" wide. It has a cable coming off of a center mounting point. You could easily install it in the rear window.

Personally, I fucking HATE radio, so I don't even have the ability to use AM/FM in my car.

Luke...although I support your efforts, I fear you may be fighting a losing battle. Just look at joehasane30's posts for confirmation

Seriously? Do I need to spell this out to you guys step by step? Isn't it obvious? Disconnect the 2 wires on either side of the rear defogger (how often do you use that thing anyway) and connect the antenna wire to the driver's side connector on the defogger. Done. The defogger is insulated from the rest of the body of the car so it makes a perfect antenna. In fact a lot of cars have the antenna built into the windows from the factory. On my car receptions is slightly better than stock. I've had this setup ever since I filled in the antenna hole and repainted the car over a year ago.
